It is recommended to change your pad every 4-6 hours or when it feels wet. Wearing an incontinence pad for too long can cause accidental leakage and skin irritation.

TENA Pads have been thoroughly tested to protect you from leaks during normal wear.
Leaks can occur due to a variety of reasons:
- Incorrect wear: make sure the pad is facing the correct way when you are attaching it to your underwear. The arrow on the backing paper indicates where the top of the pad is.

- Wearing the pad for too long: each type of TENA Pad is designed to hold a certain level of liquid. If you wear the pad for too long after you've had bladder leaks, this reduces how much liquid can be absorb which causes leaking.
All TENA Pads have Super Absorbent Polymers (SAP) that absorbs liquids and locks it deep within the pad, keeping you feeling dry. The SAP is also pH-balanced to neutralise ammonia in urine, which is the cause of bladder leak related odours.
No - period pads are not good to use for bladder leaks. Period pads are designed to absorb a slow, seeping, viscous fluid, whereas incontinence products manage the faster, thinner flow of urine. Incontinence pads lock liquid away to prevent odours from developing and keeping the skin’s surface dry. Period pads also don't have odour control technology for urine.
You may choose period products because they're cheaper than incontinence products. However, considering many incontinence liners will absorb more than a small sanitary pad, the savings don’t really add up. You’ll likely need to use many more period products to manage your incontinence compared to purpose-made products.
